How did I discover acupuncture?

I discovered my path to acupuncture while living in Rio de Janeiro,  Brazil, my mother’s home.  While in Brazil, I began to explore different ways of healing and found an acupuncturist that opened my mind to the amazing depth this medicine has to offer.  I began to receive treatments and was able to heal many past wounds that were ruling the way I lived my life in the present.  Through the course of treatment I found a profound  sense of peace and confidence in myself I had never felt before.  I knew that I wanted  to give the gifts of acupuncture to others and found myself at Tai Sophia Institute 2 years later.

I am also incredibly inspired by the difference acupuncture can make in helping cancer patients deal with the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation.  As a child of a cancer patient, I experienced first hand the effects that cancer treatment can have on the body, mind, and spirit of a person.  In honor of my mother, Bita, I brought back Bita’s Run to the Olney community, and helped to establish the Living Well with Cancer program which provides cancer patients with free acupuncture treatments at the Tai Sophia Institute.

Bottom line is: I absolutely love this medicine and I am excited, blessed, and honored to provide it to others.
